Sam didn't always like broadcasting his knowledge to other people.It made him feel uncomfortable and like he was showing off just way too much. Yes he spoke a few dead language, could shoot with decent aim and had enough magical know how to put a woman's soul back in her body, though that last one required a bit of help  John was John through the whole thing of course, Sam would have expected nothing else. The big surprise was that Sam finally got to meet Thea...officially. They'd met before in New York, while Sam was working a case with Dean and Sam had checked up on Thea for Oliver's sake. Things had gotten a little awkward to say the least.

In Thea's defense the only reason she had never met Sam in person till now (not counting New York a few months before) was timing. She had been spending pretty much every free weekend in Hell's Kitchen with Matt and was happier for it. But this weekend since Matt was coming to visit her she was hanging around the Arrow Cave till it was time to head for the train station. Cue her almost crashing into Sam in the process,"Sorry, I'm always scattered this time of day." going for a joke at her expense. When she realized who she crashed into Thea quipped,"At least this time its not a case since you're seeing me out of costume."

Sam had been seeing John off to Atalanta and then he doubled back to pick up Felicity for dinner. Spell work really took it out of a guy. He laughed. "And you are seeing me without one of my many right arms," he says referencing his brother Dean, "I've been meaning to apologizing for my brother being such a dick to Matt by the way. He was having a bad day...one of many and well he's not the people person out of the two of us."

"I think we're even on that front, you last saw me during a really bad period of time." Thea referenced the fact she had slid into a dark place mentally and emotionally in the months post pit. Thea understood now why Oliver had someone keeping tabs when she was away that summer but at the time she had not been keen on the whole idea.

Sam hadn't exactly been a fan of the whole idea either. As a younger sibling himself he knew how important it was to have your own space. "I've been in some pretty dark places myself, hence me not mentally going in to save Sara's soul with John. John knows my background and knows my limits and that was pushing it. Hell I'm shocked he let Ollie go in. John's a stickler for non users to stay out of spell work."

"And cue me sneaking to the train station within an hour. Just knew I had to escape even if just for a few days" Thea was honest, everything with Sara was still shaky mental and emotional ground. Cue her running away for the weekend soon after but this time she gave people fair warning of her splitting, this time Matt had been tipped off and this time she was not facing things alone.

"At least now you guys get why I need my weekends in Hell's Kitchen. But at the time I was a little miffed at Ollie, but now I get it given how bad things were mentally." and still were at times but Thea had been in the slow and at times painful process of facing her many demons.

"Ollie's a bullhead," Sam agrees, "but he's got his head in the right place I think. Still if you ever need a ride anywhere I'm happy to give you one or my brother Dean can do it. He likes Oliver less then most people, but he likes everyone around him fine."

"Something I know all too well." Thea had to agree. "And you guys are in my phone now, never hurts to have backup or at least escape hatches from the hens." meaning how the team could be at times but she knew it was out of people caring now.

"That's good to know," Sam says, "if you want me to ward your and Laurel's place let me know. I can do Matt's too depending on how he feels about magic. Not everyone is cool with it, but with Darhk throwing his power around like it's candy it can't hurt to be careful."

"Let me text Matt that question as well as Laurel?" as Thea flipped open her phone long enough to send texts to Matt and Laurel asking about place warding. "Nothing has gotten into NYC yet but Foggy and Karen are keeping me and Matt updated." she added.
