Sam hadn't been back in Gotham since his college days. He'd interned at the DA's office until he and Harvey had had their falling out and he'd moved to Starling. He'd popped in and out of the GCPD a lot then grabbing case files and the like and he didn't realize how much he'd missed it until he walked through the hustle and bustle. There was just something so calming about being in the middle of it. He jogged up the stairs to the records room and popped his head around the corner.. "Any one around?"

"Just me and pardon the mess! The last couple of weeks have been pretty crazy to say the least." came the voice belonging to the owner of the kitten heels currently clicking around the archives. Kristen had been on medical leave due to the recent shooting and had only returned a few days prior. "Here for the Dollmaker files or that string of arson fires?" she asked. "And don't think we've met offically? Kristen Kringle." she flashed Sam that shy smile that was almost a trademark.

Sam grinned and held out his hand. "Kristin come on don't tell me you've forgotten me already," he teased, "Sam Winchester the DA intern from about a million years ago? It's the Dollmaker files thanks. We are finally getting to take the case to trial and we need all the evidence we can get our hands on."

"Just giving you a hard time Sam!" but Kristen's smile showed no harm was done or meant. He had quickly become one of her favorite visitors and it showed,"One very large box of files coming right up!" as she hopped onto the nearby ladder to get the stuffed box. "I know that was one Detective Gordon worked on so have you spoken with him yet?" she asked.

"Detective Gordon is my next stop," Sam said, "the issue with this case is how many of Dollmaker's murders cross city lines. Well that and Harvey still hates me, so he's not exactly sharing with me and Laurel Lance like a good boy. But he seems to like Gordon, so maybe he can smooth the waters so Harvey will play nice. How are you doing by the way?"

"Work in progress?" Kristen was honest, she could be with Sam. "Finally off medical leave post everything with the Manaix and still dealing with things. But work is good, routine means less time thinking about things. Personal life is still a huge mess but starting to look up and you gave me things to think about: like putting in for a transfer to CCPD." that looking up being her budding romance with Barry.

"We'd love to have you," Sam says with a grin, "it would be nice not to have to drive two hours for files if I knew CCPD's were actually organized in a way that made sense. Seriously they need a massive computer update half of what they have is still on paper. Sometimes I have to go to S.T.A.R. Labs because they actually have computer access to most of the files I need." Not to mention Sam can then consult with Barry's team on the mystical side of things like Vandal Savage. "Not to mention Barry would stop talking my ear off before I can get out the door."

"Now you get why I've been trying to moderize GCPD's archives!" Kristen had to giggle. "But the idea is there especially given my having real reasons to make the leap. And you know that's just Barry being Barry!" able to smile since only a handful knew about her and Barry being more than close friends.

"Yeah I know," Sam says, "Barry just talks faster then most normal human beings. Luckily after knowing Felicity for as long as I have I'm used to it." He leans against a file cabinet with a smile. "Anything weird going on in town? My brother might be rolling through in a few days and he doesn't do well while bored."

"Something I'm used to just because of Nygma alone. Barry's simply the version that makes me happy." Kristen observed. "Outside of ongoing mob madness things are pretty quiet for a change, but you know it won't last long. Only real rumor is Penguin's mother going missing, nobody is sure what to think of that one." She then asked,"How's Thea doing? I know its been tricky the last couple of months."

"That ones not a big shocker actually, Cobblepot has been asking for trouble for months since Fish Moony vanished," Sam says, "and Thea's doing good. She has her dark days but her boyfriend and not the one she's fake dating has been good for her. Felicity's happy that Thea's happy and Oliver is well Oliver."

"You should hear the rumors that have been flying just within the last couple of weeks." as Kristen filled in the blanks mostly via what she had been hearing around the annex. She added,"Been worried since Thea's depression came to light, knew things had been rough but never that bad." having lent some insight since her own bout post Manaix. "But this new guy and not fake guy has to be doing her self worth some real good, knowing someone understands you and loves you heart and soul is pretty powerful." since for her that was via Barry lifiting her spirits and giving her the courage to finally leave Gotham.

Sam nods. "Yeah it is," he says understanding better then anyone how important that soul connection can be. He and Felicity have been through Hell, in some cases literally and come out all the stronger for it. "I know some of the darker days I've been through were a bit easier thanks to knowing I had Felicity waiting for me."

"Same for me, its knowing Barry's only a phone call away that makes a bad day a little less painful." Kristen had to agree. "The distance is rough but knowing it won't be for much longer is helping too." since her transfer plans were known by this point among the group. "We just connected so fast thanks to a wrong number and meeting in person only sealed it, because of Barry I'm stronger than I was only a few months ago." since for Kristen having that connection was key to her recovery from her ex.

"A friend of mine would say that wasn't a wrong number, but the right one," Sam says with a chuckle thinking of Castiel's constant nosing around Team Arrow. "Hell knowing said friend he may have don't the wire crossing himself. He likes Barry a lot."

"I like that idea actually." Kristen had to smile. "That wrong number was the right one in the end since compared to back in the spring its like I'm a whole new Kristen. Well a Kristen in recovery from a lot of garbage mentally speaking." she admits. Kristen was still having dark days but she was not alone and actually knew it now, plus going part time with Team Flash was helping too. "Going into Team Flash full time once my transfer goes through too."

"We'll be glad to have you there too," Sam admits, "I'm a wiz with the STAR Labs computers but their paper files are a damm mess. I don't know what the actual Harrison Wells of our universe was like, but man Eobard Thawne was a pack rat....a very, very creepy pack rat. He had copies of Barry's report cards going back to grade school."

"Tell me about it! Been trying to make a dent into that mess for the last month and a half." Kristen could smile now. She had been making attempts to help with the files with every visit to Central City,"Thawne is a pack rat of the creepy kind. I was shredding papers like a madwoman." she had to agree. "It was just too many reminders of the Orge in a way." having dug up the files for Gordon especially.

Sam had pretty much pegged Harrison Wells of Earth Prime as "strange" from right off the bat. His hunter instincts has jangled the second they'd met, but that was in the middle of the whole Mark of Cain mess and the Nanda Parbat craziness and he hadn't been able to share his concerns. His heart broke for Barry and he's threatened Harry a few times since then using his four inches on the tall thin man to make it clear he wasn't going to let his friend be hurt again. "Gordon is still worrying that Ogre case. Man he really doesn't know when to let things go does he?"
